Architectural photographer Frank Ritter documents the World Trade Center every year on the anniversary of 9/11. These photo essays chronicle how spaces manifest national tragedy over time, and how architecture organizes individual and national trauma and affect.
Since last year’s edition, One World Trade Center has opened to the public; large corporations such as Condé Nast and Morgan Stanley have populated the building.
By next year, the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, designed by Santiago Calatrava, will be a bustling site, connecting the 2/3, A/C/E, N/R and PATH trains from Hoboken and Newark, NJ.
Ritter’s photos include snapshots of the One World Trade Center observation deck, a legacy of the original World Trade Center, now equipped with interactive videos, maps, and other digital media.
