10.22.13: The Landmarks Preservation Commission, approved the application of Extell to build a tall building at 217 West 57th Street, adjacent to the Art Students League, by Chicago-based Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. A key issue of discussion was a cantilever projection, starting some 291′ above grade. The Chapter’s testimony, delivered by Executive Director Rick Bell, FAIA, is can be seen here.
