The New York Office of TEN Arquitectos will continue its practice under the new name, Andrea Steele Architecture (ASA), led by Principal Andrea Steele, AIA.
Nicholas Grimshaw has stepped down as chair of Grimshaw Architects, to be replaced by Principal Andrew Whalley, FAIA.
After 42 years as the President of Hoffmann Architects, founder John J. Hoffmann, FAIA, is handing over the role to Russell M. Sanders, AIA, who formerly serve as Executive Vice President and Senior Director, Technical Services, at the company.
James Slade, FAIA, Co-founder of Slade Architecture, has joined the design team at WeWork as VP of Architecture, where he will work with SVP of Architecture Michel Rojkind and Chief Architect Bjarke Ingels.
London-based office BDG Architecture + Design is opening a New York Office, with Kelly D. Powell and Rebecca Wu-Norman serving as studio leads and Colin Macgadie providing creative direction.
Firm Promotions and Hires
Jason Cadorette, AIA, has rejoined Cooper Robertson as Senior Associate. Additional new hires at the firm include Iris Kim, Collin Gardner, Anjulie Palta, Han Qin (Alan) Song, Lloyd Helen, and Jason Fung.
Academia and Institutional Appointments
Lesley Lokko, currently the Director of the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Johannesburg, has been named Dean of the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at The City College of New York.
Pratt Institute has named Harriet Harriss, RIBA, PFHEA, as the next dean of its School of Architecture. Harriss currently leads the Post-Graduate Research Program in Architecture and Interior Design at the Royal College of Art in London.
Vishaan Chakrabarti, FAIA, the founder of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU), has been named Dean of the University of California, Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design (CED).
Kate Fowle, former Chief Curator at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia, has been appointed Director of MoMA PS1.
Johnny Cruz, AIA, is now a Partner at Robert A.M. Stern Architects. Cruz has been with the firm since 1996.
