Over the course of the next month, AIA New York will identify several delegates for the AIA National Annual Meeting. Delegates, who are selected by the AIANY Board of Directors, attend the Annual Meeting and cast votes on behalf of the chapter to elect AIA National board members. The 2024 Annual Meeting and board vote will take place at the AIA Conference on Architecture (AIA24) in Washington, DC.
Delegates will be expected to attend meetings in advance of AIA24 to hear from candidates and review resolutions with other chapters in New York State; in addition, there will be a regional caucus at the conference that delegates will have to attend. AIANY does not cover the costs of delegates attending AIA24. (At the end of this article, read the schedule of meetings and required responsibilities delegate are expected to fulfill.)
Qualified candidates should be able to attend the run-up and AIA24 meetings, have a good knowledge of AIA National’s structure and strategic goals, and be willing to collaborate with other chapter delegates. Delegates must be members in good standing of AIA New York.
We invite you to circulate delegate responsibilities to qualified individuals you believe may be interested and/or express your own desire to serve. Your statement of interest should address why you would like to serve and confirm that you will be in Washington, DC and available for all the roles that delegates fill. AIANY will host a virtual information session about the role on Friday, April 5, 9–10 am. Reach out to Suzanne Mecs, Hon. AIA NYS, smecs@aiany.org for the information session link.
AIANY anticipates making delegate selections by April 30, 2024.
