AIANY Program Committees are the foundations from which the chapter positions itself in the field of architecture, whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, or other endeavors. Committees initiate the majority of the chapter’s programs and are the main avenue for direct involvement with AIA New York. Preferred co-chair candidates will have shown strong involvement with the committee, a commitment to the committee’s goals, a clear vision for the future of the committee, and good communication and management skills.
The AIANY Design for Risk and Reconstruction (DfRR) Committee harnesses the design community’s expertise to address disaster mitigation and adaptation in situations caused by major events that threaten people in the built environment, such as major storms, extreme heat, climate change, sea-level rise, terrorist attacks, etc. Applications must include a 250-word maximum letter of interest and CV sent to skaba@aiany.org with the subject line, “AIANY Design for Risk and Reconstruction Committee Co-Chair Application.”

The AIANY Transportation & Infrastructure Committee focuses on planning, architectural design, technical, and policy issues related to transportation and infrastructure, including systems and civic facilities to accommodate marine, aviation, and land-based transit, as well as energy, water and waste distribution networks. Applications must include a 250-word maximum letter of interest and CV sent to skaba@aiany.org with the subject line, “AIANY Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Co-Chair Application.”
