06.18.12: Via Verde’s ribbon cutting – which began with speeches by Mayor Bloomberg and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, and ended with remarks by AIANY Executive Director Rick Bell, FAIA – was a fitting coda to the project that was initiated by the New Housing New York Legacy competition sponsored by NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), AIANY, NYSERDA, and the Enterprise Foundation.

06.04.12: Students in the ACE Mentor Program, a not-for-profit organization that helps prepare high school students for careers in design and construction, delivered their final presentations at the Center for Architecture. According to AIANY President, Joe Aliotta, AIA, LEED AP, “The students’ poise and polish as they handled a juried panel of industry professionals asking thoughtful questions was most impressive. The team mentors are to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication to their students that these presentations certainly reflect.”
