by: AIA New York
AIA New York offices and the Center for Architecture will close, effective, Friday, March 13, at 5PM, for the next two weeks. We will reopen subject to an analysis of the evolving conditions related to COVID-19.
While the building is closed, we will be working hard to support our members during this challenging time. We are collaborating with AIA National and other chapters, as well as local officials and other organizations, to ensure that policies intended to mitigate the economic fallout are beneficial to our members.
We also want to provide the AIANY community with opportunities to remain connected, have access to resources, and take care of each other.
Ongoing Member Services
- Committee meetings will continue as remote dial-in opportunities. Details for these calls will be sent to committee lists three to five days in advance of the meetings.
- We will continue to provide opportunities to earn CES credits. Some programs, including our Civic Leadership Program Info Session, will be offered as webinars.
- All calendar listings will show if an event that was previously scheduled is canceled, postponed, or offered as a webinar.
- You can catch up on programs you may have missed in our video archive.
- Please note that the New York State Education Department has granted an adjustment for all licensees whose registrations are due to renew March 1 – June 1 to complete up to 100% of their continuing education as self-study, so long as it is taken from a Department-approved provider and is an acceptable subject area for the profession.
- Use the AIA Career Center to access resources for licensure and continuing education through AIAU.
- You can purchase AIA Contract Documents through the National website.
- AIANY has a component subscription to LegalLine should members require advice on legal issues during this time. Contact membership@aiany.org for the number.
Special Tools and Resources
- Our Policy and Advocacy team will be working closely with City and State officials to influence and interpret new and changing policies in the interest of our members.
- We will provide updates on how members can access new benefits for small businesses as they become available.
- We will provide updates on how members can work with the City as government response creates new opportunities for architects (volunteer and otherwise).
- If you have not done so, we encourage you to explore free and low-cost tools for remote work, including Zoom, UberConference, and Slack.
- AIANY Marketplace website listings will be FREE for members. You can use this platform to request or offer services or assistance.
Supporting One Another
- Email membervoices@aiany.org if you have tips or support to offer your colleagues and we will help get the word out.
- Consider reaching out to friends and colleagues to offer assistance or just check in.
- Take precautions to protect others, especially the most vulnerable (social distancing, hand washing, etc).
Thank you for remaining cautious and calm during this challenging time. We at AIA New York look forward to continue to work hard to support our members. Stay safe and healthy.
