| Monday, March 17, 2008Seminar on Integrated Practice and Integrated Project DeliveryMonday, 03/17/2008, 9:00am–5:30pm In response to owner demands for a more efficient and predictable process for designing and constructing buildings, and the wider implementation of advanced technologies such as BIM, integrated practice and integrated project delivery are processes that can improve collaboration among the design and construction team, reduce risk, and take advantage of team members’ knowledge earlier in the process. Through lectures, case studies, and group assignments, this seminar will consider various aspects of Integrated Practice and Integrated Project Delivery and how it may influence firm strategy & culture. John Beckman, AICP, PP, Principal, Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC
A nationally recognized urban planner and principal of the firm, John is known for his ability to integrate multiple perspectives into successful implementation strategies. He focuses on creating project solutions that attain long-term environmental, cultural, economic, and political sustainability. John's work is characterized by an unusual energy and insight into a wide range of planning issues . His practice includes award-winning projects in urban and community planning, development and redevelopment for public, private, not-for-profit and institutional clients.
Enric Ruiz Geli, Principal, Cloud 9
Enric Ruiz Geli (b. 1968 Figueres) is an architect for the ETSA of Barcelona. He is a visiting Visual Artist at the ZKM in Karlsruhe, with a scholarship from Krtu, Generalitat de Catalunya. His past work work experience includes associate set design for Bob Wilson in several productions: “Danton’s Tod”, Salzburger Festspiele and “Time Rocker”, Thalia Theater, Hamburg, 1995-2000. Since 1997 Geli has been the director of Cloud 9 Architecture studio, a laboratory informing architecture through nature and integrating design with technology. His work has been featured in exhibitions worldwide including in “On-Site: New Architecture in Spain” at the MoMA in 2006. He served as the Art Media Consultant for the Mercat de les Flors 2002 and curated the Spanish Pavilion of the V Biennal of Architecture in Sao Paulo, 2003.

This year’s conference theme is integrated design practice and it coincides with the launch of a new research and education program on this subject at the Harvard GSD. In the conference, we will explore the potential of integrated practice to improve design innovation, as well as on-time/on-budget project delivery.
