Site A: Manhattan, East Harlem

Site Location
The site is in the middle of the block on the south side of 120th Street between First and Second Avenues. The area was constructed in the early 20th century and is part of NYC Community District 11. This area of brownstones that is generally surrounded by tenements and Housing Authority towers is called Pleasant Village. Because the intention of this competition is to arrive at a prototypical approach to midblock residential sites, the street width is shown as a standard sixty foot Right of Way including the fifteen-foot sidewalk width.
